The Miss Cherokee Rose Outstanding Teen pageant is a little sister support program for the Miss Cherokee Rose Scholarship Pageant.  Miss Cherokee Rose Outstanding Teen will serve the Cherokee Rose area and represent us in the Miss Georgia’s Outstanding Teen Pageant in Columbus, GA in June. 

Being a Contestant

 

The registration fee for MCROT is $150 and must be paid with the application.  The deadline for applications is January 11, 2012.  There will be a mandatory rehearsal on Friday, Jan. 27,  2012. More specific times will be announced later.

To be a contestant in the Miss Cherokee Rose Outstanding Teen Pageant you must meet the eligibility requirements of the Miss Georgia and Miss America programs.  The eligibility requirements are:

  •  Be a single female between the ages of 13 -17 
  •  May not be a graduating senior in this current school year
  • Must be enrolled in and attending classes on a full-time basis at an accredited public, private, or home school program
  • Be a permanent resident for at least six months in the state of Georgia
  • Meet the character and moral standards set by the Miss Georgia and Miss America Organizations

  • Platform Essay The platform essay is REQUIRED for both Teen and Miss contestants. Each contestant will choose an issue in which she is interested to promote during her year of service as Miss Cherokee Rose or Miss Cherokee Roses Outstanding Teen.
  • Resume The resume will highlight the contestant's education, goals, leadership roles, accomplishments, and other facts which will help the judges formulate questions for the interview segment of competition.
  • Talent Request Form Introduction Each contestant must submit a talent request form stating the specific talent piece she will perform.  Talent pieces can not be duplicated by multiple contestants.

All Paperwork can be emailed except for contestant contract, talent music, entry fee and proof of age and residency documents.

Catagories of Competition

  Interview – 35% Contestants will wear a dress, business suit, pantsuit or other attire suitable for a job interview. The interview will be “panel-style” with the questions asked in “press conference style” by the judges. The judge asking the first question is determined before the interview begins and, after that question, there is no pre-determined order of questions. Any judge may ask a question at any time. There is no opening or closing statement .  The total amount of time for interview will be six (6) minutes. 

 On-Stage Question – 5% Contestants will be asked one question.

 Lifestyle and Fitness  – 10%   Contestants will wear shorts that she would work out in and a fitness t-shirt or tank top (no bare midriffs.)

Talent – 35%   Talent presentations must be a maximum of 90 seconds(1:30) in length.  Only the contestant will be permitted on stage during her talent presentation. No other person can be part of her presentation.  Talent presentations must be performed live. Talent routines that are prohibited include: the use of fire, fireworks, swords, knives, or machetes; bow and arrow acts; live animals; taking off of clothing layers.

Evening Gown – 15%   Contestants select evening gown, cocktail-type pantsuit, or other evening wear attire suitable to the individual contestant.
