Meet Bri
Miss Cherokee County 2008, Briana Jewett
The daughter of Stephany Glassing and Frank Jewett, Briana is a 19 year old freshman at the University of Georgia. With a major in Exercise and Sport Science, the Smyrna native hopes to obtain a degree in Athletic Training, which will allow her to fulfill her dream of becoming a dance/movement therapist at a children's hospital.
Aside from her studies as a HOPE Scholar, Briana is very involved on campus, serving as a Diamond Darling for the University's baseball team, co-founder of Panties with a Purpose, member of the HERO Freshman Council and a philanthropist with UGA's Dance Marathon. Outside of school, Briana can be found dancing, writing, participating in water sports and spending time with her two cats CC and Spooky.
Making her debut on the Miss Georgia stage in June as Miss Cherokee County 2008, Briana will spend her year promoting her platform PEACE OUTside Campus. By focusing on Prevention, Education, Advocacy, Certified Off-Campus Housing, Empowerment, Off-Campus Safety, University Collaboration and Trusted Resources, her goal is to provide the public with the knowledge and information needed to protect themselves against those who perpetrate crime and violence in college communities.
Aspiring to be a source of hope and encouragement for students living in fear of their safety, Briana's motto, "If God brings you to it, he'll get you through it," serves as a source of personal encouragement. Also, her mother's support, inspiration and motivation has been a constant source of strength for Briana.
Briana has already established a PEACE OUTside Campus chapter at the University of Georgia, and plans to host an event to create awareness this spring. Additionally, Briana will be reaching out to local high school seniors before they began their collegiate career, by sharing her platform with the graduating class at Woodstock High School this May.
