Meet Miss Cherokee Rose 2010
Michaela Grace Lackey
Michaela is the 20 year old daughter of Sherri and Doug Lackey of Marietta and older sister to Barron and Dylan. Talent runs in the Lackey family; Barron, an 18 year old senior, plays guitar in a rock band and Dylan, a 16 year old ballet dancer, studies year round with the Harid Conservatory and the Houston Ballet.
Michaela is a 2008 graduate of Walton High School and currently a Merit Scholar at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. She is a sophomore working toward a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. Michaela has trained as a dancer for more than fifteen years and hopes to become a professional dancer and choreographer. She has won numerous awards for dance including the Gene Tolbert Memorial Dance Scholarship and the Regional Dance America/Monticello Dancer Award. Michaela has also been a back up dancer for Rascal Flatts' 2009 tour. In addition to dance, Michaela is a champion baton twirler. She has won state and national championships including a gold medal at the National AAU Jr. Olympics.
Michaela's platform is P.A.S.S.I.O.N.: Performing Artists Serving Society In Our Neighborhoods. Michaela uses her talents to bring the arts to the community by performing at schools, benefits, and festivals. She encourages other artists to share their talents with diverse audiences is service to society. She is currently employed in the work study program at UNCSA, a dance teacher, choreographer and model.
Michaela was crowned Miss Georgia's Outstanding Teen in 2007 and won the Spirit (Congeniality) Award. She has volunteered with Project Love, Special Olympics, and Children's Healthcare Atlanta/Children's Miracle Network.
